Trunk-or-Treat II

Okay... so, it's the day after...

and yes, I went to the ward party... and yes, I wore my low-rise jeans way low... and yes I wore my tight Italian shirt, but...

no, I didn't go with the earrings, guyliner and manscara. Some of this community's comments got to me about the unseen consequences of such with my wife and kids not present... so, like always, like the story of my life, I desire more than I do, and I backed off and stayed in my shell.

Someone asked "what" I was and I said I was a "teenage boy" and they shrugged.

Another complemented me on my "mask".

*sigh*

little do they know the mask I wear.

I did my obligatory assignments as a good dutiful boy (as always) and then slipped out early and disappeared home.

But, seeing there is a "Beck Fan Club" (which I still doubt it's existence), and seeing the demand for photos... at the risk of blowing my thinly cloaked anonymity, I reveal for the first time ever self-portraits for your laughter quotient for the day...

Hey- if it makes you feel any better, every single one of those other people in your ward and in the Church wears a mask. Every single one.

I have come to the conclusion, after so many surprises, that every one has something in their life and in their family that is wrong, quirky, embarrassing, shameful, distressing, or at least personal. And those things are kept hidden behind a mask of perfection or of perceived happiness. And honestly, that's ok. There are some things that other people don't need to know.

I am not implying that your homosexuality should be covered up, lied about, or kept in secrecy. I would support you if you and your wife decided together for you to come out of the closet publicly. I'm just saying, even if you did that, there would be something else- another emotion- that would still remain behind the mask because that's just the way it is.

I'd give you a bro-mantic hug if I were there! - Peter

You are a braver man than I. Of course, if I tried wearing that, people would be covering their children's eyes and running away in horror.

I still think you should have gone as a pirate :)

PETER: Thank you for your perspective that helps me in my myopic view of things. I need it and appreciate it and am grateful for your bromantic hug! I feel it!

ABE: I didn't have time to work up a pirate costume (though I'd like to have given the guyliner a shot). Anyway, I don't know how "brave" I am. I may pull down and edit this post out in 24 hours. (NOTE: so be forewarned that if you want to download my hot body, you'd better do it quickly... ha ha...)

I feel like such a fool right now and I want to go hide in the deepest cave...

I went for a walk in the mountains with my dog this morning and all I could think of was how stupid I am for being so adolescent and immature!

BRAVONE: I bromantic hug to you, too.

Cool pictures! I didn't think you'd do it but way to be brave!!!

PL (Beck's fan club president)

PL: "Brave" is when you do something noble and honorable and beyond normal abilities and one's comfort zone of convenience, for the betterment of others or fighting against all odds for a higher cause.

What I did was stupid and childish and dumb. Yeah, it may have been out of my comfort zone, but it doesn't feel brave, it just feels stupid.

Beck said...

PL: Now the really stupid thing was to take your challenge and actually post the pictures! Thanks a lot, man... :)

P.S. I don't know if there are elections or anything to run for Beck's Fan Club President, but seeing no other takers, I guess you're it! So, now that you hold such a prestigeous position, what is your first order of business?

What Peter Said #2.

As for being "adolescent and immature," keep it up. Since I was a kid myself I've always thought one of life's greatest achievements would be to keep the same child-like attitudes of enthusiasm and joie de vivre all the time until the day you move to the next place. So high five (butt slap? ;-)) from here for not letting The Masks intimidate you.

Bromantic hugs all around to anyone who wants them, of course! :)

Beck-

Nice pictures! The arms are definitely coming along and the low rise jeans are fantastic!

I'm glad you posted your pics! I'm glad you had fun!

DAMON: I feel like a school-boy and you're flattering me! All my life I've been a skinny weakling. Had I known that I could work out and get results at this age, I would have done so years ago. Even my stick arms are responding and it's motivating to keep going. I feel better and more confident about myself and your encouragement and flattery just makes me want to keep at it, even though I know I'm still a weakling with sticks for arms.

But thanks. No one has ever complemented me on my arms before. It's hard to take you seriously, as I think so little of myself, but thanks.

ALAN: Now you are making fun of me... even with your clever alliteration.

Not at all, Beck, not at all. Just a picture of the future.

Beck,

I have no sympathy for you skinny people with your thin thighs and small butts.

I suffered for years because manufacturers didn't make clothes for people like me with large thighs and huge butts.

I couldn't even get those damn jeans much pass my knees when I tried them on the first time they were in fashion back in the 60's.

And by the way the Italian shirt was called an Italian T back in the 70's and 80's.

I could wear those. I use to work out and they stretched.

Regards,
Philip
