There is a lot of literature and theory out there that says that same sex relationships can't satisfy; that the connection is all based in lust and can't last.

I have personal experience and the testimony of many friends that says otherwise.

Forgive me for being so bold, but I think our society and culture is very limiting and nieve when it comes to the healing that is present in bonding with one's own sex in healthy and wholesome ways. It isn't all seamy and slimey out there. There are nurturing and elevating benefits to real, loving and honest connection with other men.Silverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11403824626444395199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26181705.post-63323847151402848272009-01-14T08:19:00.000-07:002009-01-14T08:19:00.000-07:00Bror: Yes, so would I. I just finished reading Alan's (Scrum Central) review and apparently the film takes a different path than expected. Instead of emphasizing the joy and hope that can come from "chance encounters" with others, making real and meaningful connections with others, it takes a path of pessimistic and fatalistic hopelessness in such encounters and ends in a downer void of hope.

I refuse to live this way. I see these "chance encounters" - even those that are long distant / even International / email-based - as having significant life-changing consequences of happiness and joy and hope as we connect and bond with each other. This life is meant for connections to be made, not to feel hopelessness in such connections.

Call me an idealist or an optimist - or living with my head in the clouds - I still feel there is more to these encounters (particularly those that make emotion, spiritual, brotherhood-type connections of affection) to have a higher purpose than just a fatalistic chance...Beckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06159223254071653666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26181705.post-37632625968482919892009-01-13T17:38:00.000-07:002009-01-13T17:38:00.000-07:00Hmmmm I would like to see it.Hmmmm I would like to see it.Brorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17843077698642948401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26181705.post-35052689659247462142009-01-12T14:28:00.000-07:002009-01-12T14:28:00.000-07:00I've read some pretty rotten views on Rottentomato...I've read some pretty rotten views on Rottentomatoes.com as well and it seems many feel it is too slow and too plodding.

I'm still intrigued - not for the sake of the movie as a major statement in cinematography, but in just the idea of two guys emailing, meeting and developing a relationship - particularly with one of them being a gay hot and gorgeous Italian! With that plot, what else does one need? :)Beckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06159223254071653666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26181705.post-85984520888877557302009-01-12T11:21:00.000-07:002009-01-12T11:21:00.000-07:00FWIW, AfterElton rates it as the best gay movie of...FWIW, AfterElton rates it as the best gay movie of the year

http://www.afterelton.com/movies/2008/7/ciaoAbelard Enigmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166049686152203530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26181705.post-31103797767484057412009-01-12T11:02:00.000-07:002009-01-12T11:02:00.000-07:00Since I haven't seen but the Trailer I don't know,...Since I haven't seen but the Trailer I don't know, but I assume it is the latter.
